2.Insecticide biocidal mechanism of action.
Water immersion.
THPS fungicide should be added to the water
flooding system and mixed uniformly at one point. Step 1:Add 93-350ppm of THPS
to an apparently contaminated system. When adding to a flowing system, snail
dose at a flow rate of 2 to 6 hours. Repeat as needed until control is
achieved—step 2. Once control is achieved, add 14-98ppm of THPS fungicide
weekly or as needed to maintain control. As for continuous treatment, THPS can
be added continuously at levels of 14-67 ppm.
Oil and gas production and transmission
systems and piping.
A 75% solution of THPS should be added to
the pipeline where it is well mixed. An amount of biocide should be added at
the time of application to ensure maximum distribution of the product through
the pipe's inner surface and eventually out the other end of the pipe. The
criteria for successful treatment is a reduction in bacteria count and/or
corrosion rate. The addition procedure is the same as for the water immersion method.
As for continuous treatment, THPS can be dosed continuously at the 14-100
ppm-level.
Drilling Mud, Completion Fluids, and
Workover Fluids.
THPS biocide should be added to these
fluids where they are well mixed. Depending on the severity of contamination,
33-1400 ppm will be added to the newly prepared fluids.
Gas Storage Well Systems.
Individual injection wells should be
treated with THPS75 at the same dose and in the same procedure as described for
water flooding. Repeat injections as needed to maintain control. Individual
water drop wells should be treated with a sufficient quantity of product,
diluted by the water in the water drop well, to produce a 33.3-133.3 ppm
concentration. Repeat injections as needed to maintain control. Some oilfield drilling
service companies in the U.S. and Canada are beginning to use xanthan gum, THPS
biocide, and Curdlan gum for irrigation treatments.
